Our Origin Story
The team members at MySadaqat have always had a special love for philanthropy and anything that is connected to serving their communities, local and beyond. Put another way, they have always been on the donor side of the equation. As a result, it was a natural extension for them to form the MySadaqat platform to spread that love and care to even more parts of the world.
But the first question we usually get is why? Why form a platform like this when there are already other existing platforms that serve a similar purpose. That’s a fair question…
The reason we decided to enter this field despite other existing players was because we believe that we can do it better. This is in no way a critique of other companies trying to raise funds for the Muslim community, as everyone has their own perspective and has their own set of challenges. Still, we wanted, as Muslims, to do a better job, especially in the areas of transparency, platform fairness and establishing donor trust.

Our Islamic Foundations
Furthermore, we are serious about our designation as a Muslim crowdfunding platform and have completed a full review of our business model by Islamic scholars who specialize in Islamic financing principles, before going live. Our website has been approved as being Shariah compliant. Moreover, we have included an Islamic wakala agreement that needs to be signed off by every donor before they proceed to donate.
This is an important aspect of Islamic contracts that, while it is only recommended in many cases, should be performed for the sake of completion. And lastly, we offer a rigorous zakat verification review by our MySadaqat Islamic Shariah board comprised of Islamic finance specialists from across the globe so that our donors can rest assured whenever they see the “Zakat verified” badge on a campaign page – in addition to being able to view the Shariah board certificate on that specific campaign’s documents menu.
While it is our aim to implement the guidance of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم قَالَ: إنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
On the authority of Abu Ya’la Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah elevate his praise and send upon him peace) said, “Truly, Allah has commanded proficiency and excellence in all things ….” [Muslim]
