The work of teaching the religion has a cost. When we don't support our institutions of learning, they close down and this leads to the spread of ignorance in our society. When we look to the hadith of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) to understand the virtue of supporting students of knowledge, we learn:
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ كَانَ أَخَوَانِ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْآخَرُ يَحْتَرِفُ فَشَكَا الْمُحْتَرِفُ أَخَاهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَعَلَّكَ تُرْزَقُ بِهِ
Anas ibn Malik reported: There were two brothers in the time of the Prophet, may Allah exalt his mention and send upon him peace, one of whom would attend the lessons o
